The first woman to serve as COO of the NFLPA, Teri Smith has a diverse role and a broad range of responsibility within the powerful and progressive NFL players’ union, which she joined in 2009 as Special Counsel. She bears wide influence and responsibility for staff, NFL players and their families. Teri advises the Executive Director on discreet legal matters and NFL front office communication.

Additionally, she manages all NFLPA events and initiatives which impact communities that support NFL players. Named to 40 under 40 lists by the Sports Business Journal and EnVest Foundation, Teri was an architect of The Trust, which provides former players with support to succeed in life, and serves as Chairwoman to the Board of Trustees. A graduate of Howard University and the Columbia University School of Law, Teri is an adjunct professor in Georgetown’s Sports Industry Management program.
